Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 8 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 4 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 5 tablespoons milk or cream

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and shortening until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, milk or cream, and salt.
  4. Continue to beat until the frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency.
  5. Increase the mixer speed to high and whip the frosting for an additional 2-3 minutes until it's airy and ready for use.

Notes

• For a whiter frosting, use clear vanilla extract and butter flavored shortening.
