Cajun Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning homemade or store-bought
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt omit if seasoning blend contains salt
  • cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Zest of 1 lemon
Homemade Cajun Seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over low heat until frothy.
  2. Stir in heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Add salt if needed. Simmer for 5–6 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon zest, then gradually add Parmesan until melted and smooth. Adjust salt to taste.
  4. Toss with hot pasta or serve as desired

Notes

  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts more smoothly than pre-shredded.
  • Reduce cayenne in the Cajun seasoning for less heat.
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days; reheat gently.
