- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Mash bananas in a large bowl.
- Stir in melted butter, oil, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla.
- Gently fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in half the chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the pan. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.

Notes
- Make sure your bananas are very ripe—lots of brown spots means sweeter flavor and better texture.
- Dutch process cocoa gives this loaf a deep chocolate flavor, but natural cocoa works in a pinch.
- For an extra-rich version, use chocolate chunks instead of chips.
