Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips reserve ¼ cup for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with parchment or Silpat.
  2. Beat butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy (5 min).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Beat until combined.
  4. Whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  5. Mix into wet ingredients in thirds.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, reserving ¼ cup.

Notes

  • Butter must be softened—not melted—for proper texture.
