Ingredients
  

  • pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • cloves garlic minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ cup ketchup for the glaze
  • tablespoons brown sugar for the glaze

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk
  3. Worcestershire, salt, pepper, thyme, and oregano. Mix until just combined.
  4. Shape into a loaf in a greased loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Mix ketchup and brown sugar in a small bowl and spread over the top

Notes

  • For extra moisture, use a mix of ground beef and ground pork.
  • Don’t overmix the meat—it’ll stay tender if you mix it just until combined.
