Creamy Cajun Parmesan Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning homemade or store-bought
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt omit if your seasoning already contains salt
  • cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Zest of 1 lemon
Homemade Cajun Seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over low heat until it froths slightly.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and Cajun seasoning.
  3. Add salt if needed. Simmer on low for 5–6 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon zest, then slowly add Parmesan, mixing until smooth.
  5. Toss with cooked pasta or use as desired.
  6. Garnish with parsley if serving immediately.
