Hoisin Glazed Meatloaf

This Hoisin Glazed Meatloaf adds an irresistible Asian twist to a comfort food classic. Juicy ground beef and pork are mixed with aromatic garlic, ginger, scallions, and a sweet-savory hoisin ketchup glaze. It’s tender, richly seasoned, and makes the best leftovers—if there are any!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger peeled and minced
  • 2 green onions finely sliced
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce 100g
  • ¼ cup tomato ketchup 100g
  • 1 lb lean ground beef 450g
  • 1 lb lean ground pork 450g
  • 1 cup soft breadcrumbs 60g
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp ground pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Sauté onion, garlic, ginger, and green onions for 3 minutes.
  2. Remove and set aside.
  3. Mix hoisin sauce and ketchup in a small bowl. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  4. In a large bowl, combine beef, pork, breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, pepper, sautéed veggies, and half the hoisin mixture.
  5. Mix until just combined.
  6. Transfer to a 9×5-inch loaf pan and pat evenly.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes. Drain fat.

Notes

  • Use fresh breadcrumbs (from soft white bread) for the moistest texture.
  • If you prefer a bolder glaze, add a splash of sriracha or rice vinegar.
  • Don’t skip the resting time—it helps the meatloaf hold its shape when sliced.
