Homemade Taco Seasoning

This DIY taco seasoning is flavorful, perfectly spiced, and made with pantry staples. Whip up a small batch to use right away or store it for quick dinners all month long.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Method
 

  1. Place all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until well combined.
  2. Use immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 6 months.
  3. To make taco meat:
  4. Brown 1 lb of ground beef or turkey.
  5. Stir in 2 tbsp of seasoning, ¼ tsp salt, ½ cup water, and optional ½ cup tomato sauce.
  6. Simmer until liquid is reduced.
  7. Serve with tortillas or your favorite toppings.

Notes
