Savory Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

This easy beef and broccoli stir-fry features thin-sliced flank steak seared to perfection and tossed with tender broccoli in a savory sesame-soy sauce. Perfect over rice for a fast and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients
  

Beef and Broccoli
  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil divided
  • 1 lb broccoli about 6 cups florets
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds optional for garnish
Stir Fry Sauce
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tsp grated garlic
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 6 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil

Method
 

  1. Start cooking rice. Freeze beef 30 minutes, then slice thinly.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together all stir fry sauce ingredients.
  3. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a skillet. Add broccoli, sauté 4-5 min, then remove.
  4. Add 1 Tbsp oil and cook beef 2 min per side until browned.
  5. Add sauce, reduce heat, and simmer 3-4 min to thicken.
  6. Return broccoli, stir to coat, and serve over rice.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic and ginger for the boldest flavor.
  • You can steam the broccoli briefly before stir-frying for softer texture.
  • Cornstarch thickens the sauce quickly—don’t skip it!
