- Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until water runs clear.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Stir in rinsed rice. Toast for 2–3 minutes.
- Add water (or broth) and additional salt. Bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
