Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1/2 large yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef 85%–90% lean
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns toasted, if desired

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet, heat butter or oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and sauté 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add bell pepper and cook 2 more minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire, water, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
