Smash Burger Tacos

These Smash Burger Tacos fuse the flavor of a cheeseburger with the crispy crunch of a taco. Ground beef is smashed directly onto tortillas, seared until golden, then topped with melted cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, and a creamy burger sauce. Dinner just got a lot more exciting.

Ingredients
  

For the Burger Tacos:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 taco size flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Seasoning of choice
  • Oil for greasing the cooking surface
Optional Burger Sauce:
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp pickle relish
Toppings:
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles

Method
 

  1. Prepare the sauce by mixing mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish. Set aside.
  2. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium-high and lightly grease with oil.
  3. Divide ground beef into 6 balls and press each onto a tortilla, spreading evenly. Season.
  4. Cook beef-side down for 2 minutes, until browned.
  5. Flip and top with cheese.
  6. Cook 1–3 minutes until cheese melts and tortillas are crisp.

Notes

  • For extra-crispy tacos, press them gently with a spatula while cooking.
  • Use ground turkey or plant-based meat as a substitute.
  • Want heat? Add jalapeños or spicy mayo.
