Steak Frites

This recipe pairs crispy double-fried russet potatoes with seared ribeye or strip steak for a simple yet elegant dish. A touch of garlic butter makes it restaurant-quality comfort food.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 boneless ribeye or NY strip steaks
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Neutral oil for frying
  • Optional: 2 tbsp butter 2 garlic cloves

Method
 

  1. Cut and soak potatoes in cold water for 30 mins. Drain and dry.
  2. First fry at 325°F for 4–5 mins. Set aside.
  3. Season steaks and sear in hot skillet 3–4 mins per side. Rest.
  4. Second fry at 375°F for 2–3 mins until golden and crispy.
  5. Plate steak and fries. Serve with optional sauce or butter.

Notes

  • Drying the fries thoroughly is key to crispiness.
  • Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
