It’s topped with more sauce and cheese, then baked to juicy perfection. Ideal for family dinners, meal prep, or feeding a crowd.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • ½ lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp parsley chopped
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup spinach chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup marinara sauce plus ½ cup for topping
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese grated (for topping)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, eggs.
  3. Parmesan, Italian seasoning, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  4. Shape meat mixture into a 9×12-inch loaf on a baking sheet.
  5. Create a well in the center; stuff with mozzarella, spinach (if using), and marinara. Seal edges.
  6. Spread remaining marinara sauce on top and sprinkle with Parmesan.

Notes

• Make sure to seal the edges well so the cheese doesn’t leak out.
• Use a meat thermometer for accuracy — no one wants dry meatloaf!
• Chopped mushrooms or roasted red peppers make a great addition to the filling.
