Ingredients
  

For the Pastry:
  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry thawed
  • Flour for dusting
For the Vanilla Custard:
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking dish with parchment.
  2. Roll out one pastry sheet slightly larger than dish.
  3. Transfer, prick with a fork, and bake 15–20 min until golden. Cool.
  4. For custard: Heat milk until simmering. Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and yolks.
  5. Slowly add hot milk, whisking constantly.
  6. Return to pan, cook till thickened. Stir in vanilla. Cool slightly.
